I recently came across these lyrics from Tony Orlando & Dawn’s song “Candida,” released in July 1970:

“The further from here, girl, the better

Where the air is fresh and clean…”

If anything typifies the business world in the late 20^th and early 21^st centuries, it’s the phrase “Better, Faster, Cheaper” and the continuous drive to achieve at least one of the three. I would argue that the main pillar of the three has been cheaper.
